Hoa Binh is a mountainous province adjacent to the west of Hanoi. Hoa Binh has a total area of 4.600 sq km divided into 10 districts and 1 city. This province is the homeland of 80.000 people with 6 main ethnic groups, of which the number of Muong people overtake 63%.

Hoa Binh is located at the gateway to the northwest of Vietnam, 76 km from the center of Hanoi in the direction of Highway 6. The province is adjacent to Hanoi in the east, Phu Tho province in the north, Son La and Thanh Hoa province in the west, and Ha Nam and Ninh Binh province in the southeast.

The climate of Hoa Binh

Hoa Binh is located in a humid subtropical climate zone, divided into two distinct seasons in the rainy and dry seasons. The average annual temperature is over 23°C. July has the highest temperature in the year on average 27 - 29°C, whereas January has the lowest temperature, averaging 15.5-16.5°C.

Thung Nai

Mai Chau is a beautiful valley 60 km from the center of Hoa Binh city. Looking down from the pass, Mai Chau valley will appear in front of you with a series of terraced fields, green trees along with tiny stilt houses. The scene in the valley is just like a beautiful and vague water-color painting. Arrive in Mai Chau around October - December or March and April every year, you will admire the beauty of the forest of plum flowers and peach flowers. Hoa Binh Hydropower Plants

Hoa Binh hydropower plants were built in the Da river in 1979 and completed in 1994. This is one of the largest hydropower plants in Vietnam with the power output 10 billion kWh/year. In recent years, Hoa Binh hydropower plants attract more and more tourists to visit. Coming here, you will have a chance to witness the wonderful structure of hydropower plants and admire the ability of people that can stop the river and build a spectacular hydropower plant like this. Lung Van

Located at an altitude of 1.200 m above the sea level, Lung Van is considered the rooftop of Muong land. It is known as an attractive tourist destination for those who desire to conquer the peaks covered with clouds all year round. Lung Van is famous for the lush green landscapes and the unique culture of Muong people. If you want to enjoy the wonderful beauty of Lung Van, you should get up early. In the early morning, the entire Lung Van is still covered in the mist and it looks so nice. Thac Bo cave

The next tourist attraction in Hoa Binh is Thac Bo cave. This is an attractive tourist destination that you should visit after traveling to Thung Nai. Museum of Muong cultural space

The Museum of Muong cultural space is located at the back of a small hill which is 7 km from the center of Hoa Binh city. With the area of 5 hectares, the museum has shown the typical features of Muong culture - an ethnic group with a thick layer of culture and history. Right in the gate, tourists can see the “con nuoc”- a tool leading water to the field, that depicts the rice cultivation techniques of Muong people. Coming to Muong cultural space, apart from learning the culture and architecture of Muong people, tourists also have the chance to enjoy the delicious dishes bearing the imprint of Muong people.
